Day 2

Apologies to our hordes of avid readers for being a day late...not much of a signal down Cornwall ways!! Anyway, the fact that it was hissing down might have had something to do with the late morning start. The boys soon got into their stride and we traversed our 1st nasty hill of the day to reach Penzance fire station when, after handing out T shirts to the crew, we were escorted by their fire engine to the outskirts of the Town, much to the dismay of the long procession of cars behind thinking they'd got stuck behind a funeral cortege!!!

This was a long hilly, wet, windy, miserable, grey & cold 60 miles by Andy's reckoning so throw at least 10 on top of that!! What was really hard to swallow was when Andy, who by then was sitting comfortably behind the wheel of the tranny, rand ans said "Oh did I mention the hotel was actually 5 miles past Liskeard our goal, or so we thought, for the day. Gutted springs to mind and that last 5 felt like 50!! Another good hotel though with peacocks roaming the grounds, and according to Arthur doing a passable impression of a moggy crying to come in!! Andy went up immeasurably in Arthur's estimation by doubling back to ride the bit he missed when driving...and he started at 6.40 pm getting back to the hotel when the rest of the peleton were on the After Eights!!!!!!!!!!
